Meet our clients who trusted Mind The Wax to press their music on vinyl!
EODS short for ENEMY OF DA STATE. They are ILL PROCEEJA vocals/bars & DJ GRAZZHOPPA beats & cuts.
They are heavily influenced by Gangstarr, Public Enemy, Cypress Hill, MF DOOM, Blade, NWA, Beastie Boys, Bob Marley, Ohio Players and Grace Jones.
Their style is define as a big middle finger to the system while puffin’ a doobie and having fun.

What was the inspiration behind your album and what the album is about?
The inspiration came from the strain we puff called “Enemy of the state”, It gives you a militant high which is special.
It’s a combination off styles and skills we accumulated over the years, It’s about freedom of expression and creating in the moment, channeling dopeness through our gift.
Are there any unique stories or experiences that influenced the creation of the album?
After a mosh pit experience on a ILL Proceeja show we knew what was needed for EODS.

Can you share a bit about your musical journey and how it led to this particular album?
Grazz:
DJ Optimus and myself connected thru Dj Lamont , then Optimus introduced me to ILL Proceeja.
They have a group called ILL Productionz. I produced “SCAVENGERS” on their 12″ (2007- 529RECORDS).
When i moved closer to Holland we continued to do more work. The ILL PROCEEJA album “RAVEN” then the EODS album.
“Nothing to it but to do it”

Which tools and equipment used in the production process of this album?
ASR10 (Ensoniq) , MPC3000 (Akai) and SP-12 (Emu).
These are the samplers used on the project. SP-12 gives that dirty grit, the ASR10 is a beast in processing samples and possibilities to make a sample sound different than what you initially put in while keeping it very phat sounding, the MPC3000 also got that grit but keeps things more the way you put them in but this is the mothership of my production, all samplers I use are controlled by midi on the MPC3000.
Once I’m happy with a beat I’ll transfer it to Protools, this gives me more freedom to arrange a song and record vocals, keyboard, scratches…, I mainly use it as a multitrack, I don’t go crazy on plugins just EQ to remove any unwanted frequencies and maybe a compressor if needed on a track and a limiter on the master to avoid clicking/popping. I usually bounce out the songs between -6db and -10db to give that extra headroom so the mastering guy can really do his thing.
Technics turntables, Shure needles or Ortofon and a Rane mixer are what I use to DJ/scratch.
For the vocals we recorded with a Neumann mic and also an EV (electrovoice) broadcast mic which has become our favourite to record vocals.
For now I’m using a Soundcraft (K3) desk to mix and record things into Protools. Oh and the Vermona DRM is like a German TR808 but with a lot more control on each sound, you can make it sound real close to an TR808 but it’s still different and that’s what I like about it, mainly used to enhance drums!

What were the challenges or interesting aspects of the production?
We didn’t mean to make this album, it kinda just happened.
Any collaborations that took part and you would like to highlight?
Remixes by Optimus and Smimooz (RAB-Brussels). Also cuts by the homie DJ Optimus!
Unique interactions & conversations between MC & DJ on some tracks. Puff and create.
