Music stories from clients who trusted Mind The Wax to press their music on vinyl!
Hume Assine is something like a solo project in a band. Organs, mellotrons, strings & pianos combined with synthesizers, drum pads, samples and vocals.
The band members are: Anna Paspati – Vocals, Alexios Antonopoulos – Drums and Hume Assine – Synths & Programming.
Their music influences are based obviously in electronic music but there is a lot of pop & soul & hip hop culture, below the line.

What was the inspiration behind your album and what the album is about?
It’s a concept album describing 10 urban stories inspired by Athens. Passions, kisses, underground vibes, elevations, and super feelings alternate along with Greek and English lyrics. The entire concept is called ATHENS BLUES. It’s not just limited to music but also extends to other forms of expression, such as themed live events and the ATHENS BLUES podcasts, where we host special guests and discuss stories of the city.
Are there any unique stories or experiences that influenced the creation of the album?
Each song originates from a real, small trigger, like a teenage kiss on the street (POLIKATIKIES), passersby in the alleys (SUPER FEELINGS), or a fruit bowl on grandma’s table (SPECIAL ORDINARY LIFE).

Can you share a bit about your musical journey and how it led to this particular album?
The album was literally written on the street. In unsuspecting moments, I would compose a melody and record it on my phone, or I would think of lyrics and jot them down on my phone as well. Due to a very hectic daily life, I usually completed the songs in the evenings while taking my dogs for a walk. Afterward, I would record the demos and send them to the other members of the team, and from there, we would proceed to the final form of each piece!
“Urban Athenian sounds, urban Athenian words”

Which tools and equipment used in the production process of this album?
All instruments recorded in my home studio. Logic pro X is my DAW and I used an Arturia Audiofuse Rev2 audio interface. Then some synths like Moog Subsequent 37, Roland JP06A, Arturia Microfreak, Roland System-8, some keys like Waldorf Streichfett & Vox Continental 61 and of course plenty of samples & soft synths. We also use a Roland SPD-SX special edition as our drum pad. Vocals recorded at KYRIAZIS studios!
What were the challenges or interesting aspects of the production?
The most interesting aspect of the production was something really common for the most of musicians out there: We did NOT do the mix and mastering. For the first time, we decided not to mix & master our songs by myself and leave this job to someone else. This person was Kyriakos Asteriou, a really experienced professional, who gave an extra touch to the whole project that we could not imagine!

Any collaborations that took part and you would like to highlight?
We have two really special, special guests in the opening & the closing of the album. Jerome Kaluta, a multi-talented artist (singer, actor, tv presenter), and Stefanos Tsitsopoulos, radio producer, columnist & author.

What are the vinyl specifications you decided to press your album?
It’s pressed on a Clear colored vinyl, on 140gr. As of the packaging, it comes in a transparent PVC sleeve and includes a pack of stickers!
It’s produced on 200 copies and it includes 10 tracks.
How does the experience of listening to your music on vinyl differ from other formats?
It’s not the most portable format, it’s not THE best sound quality if you hear it from a €100 turntable, but who cares? It’s exactly like real love: Exciting!

Where fans can find and purchase the album, including online platforms and physical stores?
Of course, BANDCAMP: https://humeassine.bandcamp.com/album/athens-blues
and our label’s site, MUZITEE: https://www.muzitee.com/eshop/p/hume-assine-athens-blues
Are there any exclusive releases, limited editions, or promotions related to the vinyl pressing?
It’s a secret… Stay tuned!
How do you envision your audience connecting with this album?
Perhaps anyone living in a big city can identify his/her own reality, in some stories described in the album.
Are there any messages or emotions you hope listeners will take away?
Authenticity. That’s all!
